Orchestrator & Arranger
Mike is an orchestrator and arranger comfortable in a wide variety of genres.
Mike regularly orchestrates work for large and small ensembles, including:
- Down for the Count Concert Orchestra
- The London Musical Theatre Orchestra
- West End Scratch Orchestra (Cadogan Hall Concerts)
- City String Ensemble
Mike’s current focus is writing and arranging for the Down for the Count Concert Orchestra, a 27-piece ensemble who evoke the sounds of the Capitol Studios recordings of the 1950s and 1960s. Mike has written a suite of transcriptions of the arrangements written by Nelson Riddle, Gordon Jenkins and Billy May for artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat ‘King’ Cole and Ella Fitzgerald.
Mike also writes original arrangements of jazz standards in the style of these great arrangers. Below is Mike’s original arrangement of the jazz standard When I Fall In Love, performed by the Down for the Count Concert Orchestra.
